Buffalo Creek – Austin County’s Entertainment Destination

There’s a place in Bellville where the buffalo roam and where the beer and wine flow.  Locals flock to Buffalo Creek for good friends and good times every Friday and Saturday night.  It has quickly become the entertainment destination in Austin County.

Originally opened in October 2009 as Buffalo Creek Winery, Steve and Kathy Herbst wanted to offer a unique environment on their buffalo ranch for guests to come and enjoy the wine they had been importing from Australia and Sicily.  Their original plan was to have a vineyard and produce their own wine.  However, the business evolved into something even bigger.

Owners (L-R): Tiffany Herbst, Steve Herbst, Kathy Herbst

They increased their wine profile from 40 varieties to 90.  Then offered a vast selection of cigars, and are now the largest cigar vendor in Austin County.  Recently they opened up to a whole new clientele when they decided to add select specialty beers.

What’s better with beer and wine than some great food?  The Herbsts realized this and started adding more food to their light fare menu.  Now their regular menu offers up scrumptious Angus or Buffalo burgers, Fish Tacos, tender steaks and a divine chocolate cake – just to name a few.  Special dinners are also offered throughout the year from guest chefs around Texas.

Did you know that you can purchase buffalo meat too?  They sell it ground by the pound, however, just give them a call and you can find out about all the other cuts of buffalo that are available.

Beau Hinze and The Backporch Shufflers

Great food and wine equal a good time, but add some great music performances and you have a fabulous night out on the town that would rival any club in Houston or Austin. Buffalo Creek is quickly becoming famous for their great entertainment, hosting such performers as Bri Bagwell and the Banned, Clayton Gardner, Ryan Turner and Brenham’s own Beau Hinze and the Backporch Shufflers.

The newly constructed entertainment pavilion allowed Buffalo Creek to host their very first wedding in April 2011 and is becoming a popular location for large private parties.  The bar area and back deck are also available for smaller group gatherings such as bridal luncheons and birthday parties.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 2pm to 6pm.  Buffalo Creek will be hosting their first ever Oktoberfest beer tasting, serving Saint Arnold Beer!  With your ticket you will receive a sample from each beer and 2 full glasses of your favorites. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Call to reserve your tickets today!
