Paul and Merrill Bonarrigo, owners of Messina Hof Winery and Resort in Bryan, invite you to experience their award-winning wines as you kick back and relax at their beautiful 100-acre countryside estate. Paul is a sixth generation winemaker. His family has been in the wine business since the 1800s. Paul began Messina Hof in 1977 as a small winery, being only one out of four wineries in the state at the time. Since then, it has grown to include a four-star restaurant, a bed and breakfast, a wine bar, daily tours, many special events, and world recognition.
Messina Hof wines have won many awards over the years in renowned wine competitions, including Best of Show in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. They are best known for their Port and Red Wines. Paul has even been invited to Portugal to discuss Messina Hof’s unique process for creating their one-of-a-kind Port. Be sure to visit the estate’s Retail Guest Center where selections may be purchased from a complete list of wines.
The Winemaster’s Wine Bar is Messina Hof’s newest addition to the winery. Enjoy an intimate setting perfect for relaxation and savoring the best wine-by-the-glass list in Bryan and College Station, with fifty selections to choose from. A delicious assortment of appetizers is also available to enhance your wine experience. The Wine Bar hosts daily events, including an everyday happy hour, Aggie Nights on Tuesdays, Chocolate Nights on Wednesdays, and 42 Fridays. Messina Hof is known for its romantic atmosphere and setting. The Villa Bed and Breakfast completes that feel, having been voted The Most Romantic Hideaway in the USA. This ten room inn offers a memorable experience, complete with stunning views from your room’s patio or balcony, a time for comfort by the fireplace in the Great Room and refreshing strolls along the estate pond, forest, and vineyard. Each room is designed with different themes and beautiful historical antiques to complete the space. Guests can also enjoy complete spa services and a breath-taking rose garden.

Another attraction located at the winery is The Vintage House, a four-star restaurant serving fresh vineyard cuisine that incorporates Messina Hof’s award-winning wines. Something new can regularly be found as their menu changes quarterly. Enjoy savory foods with up-close views of the vineyard or within the Barrel Room. The restaurant also offers cooking classes with the Chef.
Messina Hof is excited to announce their grand opening in Fredericksburg. Their kick-off celebration is October 20 during the Fredericksburg Food and Wine Festival. Messina Hof’s Hill Country Winery is expected to enhance the area’s wine experience with a large music venue to host concerts and performances and an elaborate tasting room, complete with a hand-carved marble gazebo from Italy. The next step in the Fredericksburg property is an eighty-room hotel and spa, a four-star restaurant and a beautiful lakeside view.
